Picture Composition
Picture Composition: The picture composition is usually divided into three patterns where a student is asked to describe a picture given or make a story out of it or to express and elaborate upon the thoughts and feelings suggested by the given picture. The picture can be a photograph, an action scene, a quote written over a picture or a scene or a sketch of a famous personality. The composition is written in three different forms so as to highlight this uniqueness.
Following points should be taken care of while writing an account of the picture.
1. Introduction: A brief introduction of the picture, what it suggests and its effect on the people and the environment.
2. Body or Context: The ideas and thoughts that the student receives from the picture should be mentioned and linked in a correct and meaningful sequence.
3. Conclusion: Bringing the composition to an end with carefully rounding off the thoughts, feelings and returning to the specific subject.
Question : Write a paragraph or composition of about 100 words using information from the image provided.
Answer : At a traffic signal, various sound of different vehicles can be heard. The pedestrian crossing where young and old alike wait to cross from one corner of the street to the other. The traffic signal itself is at the top of a tall metallic pole, shaped into a broad rectangle. Three vibrant colors adorn its black background- red, yellow, and green. Each of these colors signifies a different message. Red, reminds one to stop. Yellow says, “Patience. Just wait for a little time longer" and Green gives the signal to move again.
On the road, people cross on the zebra crossing as the lights turn green. A street sign at the corner indicates the crossing with its clear signage while down on the road, black and white painted stripes resemble the back of a zebra. The people who cross the street are a mix of all ages- school children as well as young men and old ages people. They cross safely across the street and the vehicles zoom past, beginning the ceaseless cycle all over again.
A picture composition is a creative writing piece that you write based on a given picture. You can add your own examples and scenes by remembering your own experiences at a zebra crossing.
